When we got up it was clear that the weather had improved greatly, so we decided to visit Handa Island just off the coast south of where we are staying. It is owned privately, but managed by the Scottish Wildlife Trust and open to the public. Handa is famous for its seabird colonies of the cliffs on the north coast. The Great Stack is to the right of the gap in this picture.
It continued to be dry, sunny and warm and we had a glorious day. Saw some puffins (from a long way away), a few Great Skuas, hundreds of guillemots and some great vistas. The Skuas were not too happy about us invading their space, but they did not dive bomb us like we had been warned. The 6 kilometre walk was not too strenuous and well maintained.
