Dun Ringill

Jethro Tull fans may recognise the title of today’s blog entry. It is a track from the 1979 Jethro Tull album Stormwatch. Ian Anderson wrote it when he lived in the nearby Kilmarie House.

The Dun Ringill that inspired Ian Anderson is an Iron Age Broch located nearby on a strategic position on the coast of Loch Slapin. It’s main feature that is still intact is the entrance into the centre of the structure.

Near the remains of the broch are some beautiful cliffs. They are not very high, but the rock has formed interesting structures.

Of course I could not leave without making a photo of a tree.
